FINANCIAL BASICS: PROFITABILITY RATIOS

An important use of ratios is to assess a company’s profitability. Ratios that perform that function are called Profitability Ratios. They can be a good tool to answer questions such as, "My business is making a profit - which is great - but how do I know how this compares to the industry?" Ratios called profit margins help answer that.
